The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in partnership with the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) and the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is hosting a New Starts Workshop to inform local decision-makers of the FTA New Starts and Small Starts Programs.  We are pleased to have representatives from the national office of the FTA share the details of the program and provide insight on what it will take to move transit projects in the Atlanta region into position for federal funding under the New Starts program.

Specifically emphasis will be place on:

• the amount of funding available in each program
• level of national competition for these funds
• the elements of a project that could be considered most critical to its success
• an overview of the project evaluation process for each program
• the role of locally elected officials in the project development and funding process.
